We worked closely with architects Stephen George + Partners, Wilten Construction, and Park Lane Fencing to design and fabricate a bespoke bike storage solution, and a combined bin & cycle storage unit for the new Space City Leicester development on the former Pioneer Park development north of Leicester city centre.
The bin and cycle store featured a parapet to the front and rear of the compound, transparent GRP roofing to allow the natural light to penetrate, and Iroko cladding to give a high-end finish. The modern aesthetic is in keeping with the surrounding areas contemporary design. The parapet allowed for the runoff of rain into the gutter, while still giving the illusion of a 'flat' roof.
The cycle store featured an open fronted design and was also clad in high-end Iroko boards and featured a transparent Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) roof. Gutter systems allowed the runoff of rain into the drainage systems.
During the design phase, our team worked closely with the architects, Stephen George + Partners, to ensure the bin and cycle storage solutions would fit the modern look of the Space Park. Our engineers fabricated a bespoke parapet solution to hide the sloped roof and ensure a 'clean' finish.
Both the architects and main contractors were extremely pleased with the final product, and we look forward to working with the teams on our next project.
